Small antique turned bronze handcrafted primitive mortar and pestle probably 19th century or earlier. Sturdy bowl and simple incised horizontal decorative lines and primitive motif on mortar. Hand hammered pestle with central ring and decorative lines. Interestingly we can see the fusion of brass and copper used in handcrafting tool. Early primitive mashing/grinding tool used for medical, pharmacy, apothecary applications and herbs or spices grind. Might also be used for rustic drug store and kitchen decoration. Unknown origin. Dimensions: 5 cm de hauteur (2") tall and approx. 5,5 cm (2 1/8") outside diameter at top and 4 cm (1 5/8") at bottom, pestle 9,5 cm (3 3/4") long.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Many marks on outside body.
